Application Process

Thank you for your interest in the Nurse Practitioner Residency in Family Practice and Community Health.

  • Four positions are available each year.
  • The deadline for submitting your completed (i.e., contains all required recommendations, personal statement, application, etc.) application is April 1.
  • Only applications completed by April 1 will be considered for review by the Selection Committee.
  • Interviews take place in April and May.
  • The application review team is made up of program leaders, physicians, APRNs and a mix of preceptors and former residents.
  • After the interview process, the residency coordinator will maintain communication with each applicant to provide additional information and answer questions.
  • Applicants will be notified of admission decision by May 31.
  • The 2012-2013 Nurse Practitioner Residency class begins on September 4, 2012.

*If you have a NHC scholar obligation or are seeking a loan repayment, please let us know. NHSC legislation does not permit internship or residency to be counted as part of the obligatory period of service, but does allow deferrals of up to one year for scholars who wish to participate in this residency program.
